Two sixth form boys, Will and Josh organised a Meadows World Cup Tournament in school on Tuesday 3rd July. As World Cup fever hit the nation and pessimism turned to hope with our national team, Will and Josh tapped into the sporting spirit and ran the tournament on the astroturf. Twenty-eight staff and pupils took part as four teams; France, Belgium, England and Brazil. In hot conditions, the teams battled it out with Brazil beating England in the final. Everybody paid an entry free, raising £35 for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice in Trentham. The following day, Vicky Smith from the hospice visited school to give a talk on the work of the hospice and to receive the monies raised. Well done to all the players and especially to Will and Josh for organising such a fun and worthwhile event.
