Air Aware Staffordshire

Air Aware Staffordshire is a project to help raise awareness of air pollution and the detrimental effects it has to those most affected by it.

Did you know Leek is an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA)? This means that Leek is exposed to higher than average levels of air pollution set out by DEFRA.

The Air Quality Project in Staffordshire aims to help reduce levels of pollution by working with schools and businesses to help raise awareness, educate people and affect behaviour change where possible. This may include taking more active modes of travel for shorter journeys, switching off the car when idling and parking and striding.

We will be taking part in this programme and will be setting up some Air Aware Ambassadors for the school to help us spread the message within the school community and beyond. Pupils will also get the opportunity to take part in PHSE activities and lessons related to this topic.

Air Aware Staffs is already working with 6 schools in Leek and hopes to be working with all Leek schools by the end of the year. The project is ongoing and will include a number of different campaigns and initiatives throughout the academic year.
