On Monday 13th March 2023, twenty pupils from Key Stage 3 participated in a coding workshop delivered by two engineers from Microsoft, with support from Mrs Butler, Mrs Barnett and Mr John. Pupils were given a device called a Micro bit and spent the morning learning to code it to play different games on with the aid of the website www.makecode.com.

In the afternoon pupils were given a different device called a Circuit Playground Express.  Using the same website they were then able to program it to play a game of ‘Hot Potato’.  Pupils were asked to complete a feedback form at the end of the day and their feedback was overwhelmingly positive with all of them saying they had really enjoyed it.

We intend to secure some of the devices for the school so that we can run the day again for KS4 and KS5.

A big thank you to Gregg Nottage and Anil Abraham from Microsoft for a fabulous day, enjoyed by all, and we hope to see you again.
