Class NG visit National Memorial Arboretum - 20/11/2019

< Back to the news< Back to the news

A visit had been planned by Class NG to the National Memorial Arboretum, for a day in November, shortly after Armistice Day; who could have predicted what a gloriously sunny, blue skied, Autumnal day it turned out to be? Unfortunately the site was flooded in  places making access to some of the memorials restricted, following all the recent flooding in the East Midlands.

However Class NG were able to view the main memorials, including the awe inspiring Armed Forces Memorial to those Service personnel killed since 1945. Students were able to take part in the Daily Act of Remembrance which takes place at 11am every day and includes two minutes silence, following the playing of The Last Post, in the Chapel.

It will be interesting to visit the Arboretum in a few years and view the Maturing trees! Perhaps some students will visit as adults in the future, recalling this special day! Photos are on the website.
